Tracie Long has long been a renowned trainer in the home workout market. She first hit the scene as a background exerciser in the original Firm workout videos. Making her way to the front of the class, Tracie Long made the shift to Master Instructor and began leading many of the workouts. Building on her roots from the FIRM and decades of experience in the fitness industry, Tracie Long founded Tracie Long Fitness. Tracie Long has created two new unique series to add to her line of workout series: reBoot and Figure30. The reBoot series includes high intensity interval workouts to kickstart your metabolism and bring about changes and desired results. The Figure30 series are short thirty minute workouts designed to focus in on trouble spots.
reBoot2 Real Evolution:
Tracie Long, 2012 ***** (5 of 5 stars)
Tracie leads this fantastic 52 min C+S workout alone in her brick set on a pedestal. You will need a weighted ball and dumbbells for this workout. Tracie does a great job of offering modifications to up the intensity if desired. The dvd is chaptered. There is a dumbbell section, weighted ball segment, and a body weight segment- all provide cardio & strength training.
Tracie alternates hi intensity moves with active recovery and really keeps things moving along. Exercises include: med ball X pushes, jacks, ball weaves between the legs, plyo lunges, figure 8′s with the ball, skater, ball swing & overhead triceps adding in a hop, burpees to pushups & frog hops, floor touch to knee ups, 180 jumps, knee pull hops, plank w/ weighted punches tri kickbacks, side plank dumbbell raise, squat & mil press, tuck jump-march, quick & slow pendulums, dips & bi curls, side lunge-row-hops, and a nice core section before the cooldown. Tracie uses 7 lb dumbbells but I found it easy enough to heavy up.
I rate this a high intermediate workout that really accomplishes a lot! Really worked my muscles & got & kept my heart rate up. Very functional feel that hits the core in fun new ways while staying active. Fun unique exercises combined with Tracie’s stellar cuing & instruction make this an awesome workout! I can not wait for more reBoot workouts!
Figure 30 Butt: Tracie Long, 2012 ***** (5 of 5 stars)
Get ready to sculpt a high and tight butt with Traice’s next chapter in her Figure30 series! Figure 30 Butt is a targeted workout that zeroes in on one of the largest muscle group of the body – the butt. Equipment needed for the workout includes a set of dumbbells, ankle weights and an exercise mat depending on your workout surface.
Figure 30: Butt begins with a focused five-minute warm-up that immediately targets the glutes and prepares them for the work ahead. The workout is then divided into two ten minute sections: Weight and Balance Work and Table and Bridge Work. The first section focuses on standing weighted exercises that target the butt – one side at a time. With the use of a heavy dumbbell, Tracie works unilaterally on the glutes, which not only challenges your balance, but zeroes in on the butt working it twice as hard. The second section is comprised of bridge and table work. With the use of ankle weights, and again working one side at a time to really challenge the muscles, Tracie incorporates the use of ankle weights to really get into the muscle and fatigue it. The workout is rounded out with a cooldown and a stretch.
Figure 30: Butt is a fun, yet challenging, lower body toning workout. The workout is nicely sequenced to thoroughly challenge the muscles of the butt, keep you engaged and never bored. Figure 30: Butt is adaptable to all fitness levels by adjusting your weight selection or omitting them altogether. Tracie Long is an excellent instructor and excels in this workout. She shows superb form, provides flawless cuing and offers motivation throughout the workout.
